Downtown Dubai is a massive multi-purpose complex from developer - Emaar Properties. It occupies an area about 2 sq.km. Originally, this district of Dubai was called Downtown Burj Dubai, but afterwards it was decided to make the name simpler.
Famously in English speaking countries, they use name "downtown" to specify business part of the city. Downtown Dubai is unique urban complex where business centers and malls coexist with fashionable hotels and luxurious apartments. The total investment in this Dubai project is estimated at 23 billion dollars. The district unofficially got a title of the most expensive and exclusive in the world.
Downtown Dubai is located along Sheikh Zayed Road highway and shares borders with Business Bay in the south. In the northeast Financial Centre Road limits it and separate from Zabeel 2 and Trade Centre 2. The district has connection with Dubai metro thanks to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station. Road Interchange "The First Interchange" provides smooth traffic flow in Downtown and from Downtown.
The central object of Downtown Dubai is 828 m height skyscraper Burj Khalifa. Except it there are following unique projects: mega Dubai Mall and Dubai Fountain, The Address Downtown Dubai hotel, and multi-storey and low rise residential and office buildings.
Dubai Mall is the biggest shopping mall in the world. There are 1200 shops, many attractions including Olympic-size ice rink, aquarium, and water zoo.
Dubai Fountain is the biggest fountain system in the world. It was projected by Californian company WET Design which also projected fountains in Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas. For making unique light effect, there are 6600 illuminating lanterns and 50 color projectors. The fountain length is 275 m, jets height is 150 m to the accompaniment of traditional Arabic or global music.
Downtown Dubai is a completely all-sufficient city inside the city. People who live in this district get absolutely everything what they could need for a full life. In every residential complex, there are gyms, fitness centers, SPA, swimming pools. For children there are not only playgrounds but also kindergartens.
